Birthday Treats Spectacular

Like our canine campanions, we humans thrive and mold our behavior with one specific goal in mind; GET TREATS. Live another year? BOOM! TREATS! Good job!

A lot of birthdays are happening around me. Well, everyday is someone’s birthday, right? So, I want to talk about the best part of getting old, which is cake. My birthday was February 28th, but I never shared with you all what I ate in reward for completing 22 years of life.

My sister, Shannon, made lemon cupcakes with half lemon, half chocolate frosting. Delicious and gourmet as always, Shannon.

On my actual day of birth (the other delectables were eaten at my Mad Men themed birthday party) I baked cupcakes in ice cream cones to share with my roommates. Remember back in elementary school when you’d bring in treats to share with the class? If you brought in these babies, you were one hip seven-year-old. My mom never made them, and I couldn’t forget the adorableness that was missing from my life. Fifteen years later, these darlings are still just as delicious and special.

Fun fact: You can make confetti cake from scratch by adding rainbow sprinkles to regular white cake mix.

Okay, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EVERYBODY!!!! GOOD JOB LIVING YOUR LIFE!

  1. “So, I want to talk about the best part of getting old, which is cake.” Yes! That is great. I have been going through a hard time coming to the realization that in June I will be turning 25, but you make it sound so easy… We just have to remind ourselves that life is sweet! Love this blog, and the cupcakes in the ice cream cones are going to be a fun adventure for me this weekend. Keep it up over here 🙂

Your blog always makes me smile, especially when you mention me in it. Haha. I remember the cupcakes in ice cream cones. I haven’t had one since elementary school. Are they any good? I feel like if I eat one that it won’t be as good as how I remember.
